Volta’s Seattle market recently hit a major milestone: 100+ charging stations have found their home in the Seattle major metropolitan area. Conveniently located at the places electric vehicle drivers already visit — grocery stores, drug stores, shopping centers and entertainment venues — Volta’s stations fit seamlessly into drivers’ daily lives. To celebrate and welcome our new community of Seattle drivers, we’ve consulted with some local Seattle experts to put together the perfect day or two of city exploration, all centered around exploring Volta's charging network along the way.
First, let’s start our drive around Seattle with Volta’s very own Construction Project Manager Eric Barnett and his adorable dog Lobo, who have crafted a perfectly planned electric vehicle adventure, complete with a mix of productive and fun activities.

Start your day with a charge at the Walgreens on Denny Way Volta station, Eric’s favorite location because of the view of the Space Needle in the background. While your car sips on electrons, stock up on the essentials at Walgreens, grab a coffee at a nearby cafe and pick up some snacks at the Whole Foods down the road.

For a late breakfast, drive just six minutes to the historic Pike’s Place Market, famous for its craft stands and specialty foods shops, as well as an array of pop-up patios and heated balconies. From there, it’s time to get some fresh air and exercise — so let’s head to Discovery Park.
A 25-minute drive from Broadway Market, Discovery Park is Seattle’s largest green space, featuring miles of picturesque trails for walking, running and biking — and beautiful views of the Puget Sound.
Once you have worked up an appetite, drive 10 minutes to the Ballard waterfront neighborhood for your pick of trendy restaurants, bars and boutiques, all while your EV charges at The Terminal on Ballard. If you’re looking to do a little post-COVID planning, one of Seattle’s most well-known markets, the Fremont Sunday Street Market, is a 5-minute drive away and set to reopen in March of 2021.
From Ballard, there are multiple possibilities: you could head northeast and charge up at the Safeway on Northwest Way, which is a 5-minute drive from Green Lake Park, one of the city’s most beloved parks. Located in the center of a dense urban area, the park has a picturesque 3-mile trail around the lake and is the perfect spot for picnicking, swimming and boating.

Now, let’s head south! We consulted with the experts at Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority to help bring us to the hidden gems of the area. Our friends at the Seattle Southside RTA are on a mission to help visitors create memorable experiences throughout Seattle Southside, including the cities of SeaTac, Tukwila and Des Moines. They have crafted the ultimate map and dining guide to help the everyday foodie and adventurer explore all that Seattle Southside has to offer.
To start your journey south, drive 25 minutes from your last Volta station to end your day at one of Volta’s newest locations, Westfield Southcenter. With more than 200 stores and dining options, Westfield Southcenter is the largest shopping center in the Pacific Northwest. If you’re feeling hungry, this is the best place to enjoy fresh and local seafood at Duke’s Seafood, or Taiwanese delicacies at Din Tai Fung.
You might be getting tired from your adventures and luckily there are more than 60 nearby hotels to choose from for a short rest or spontaneous staycation. Hotel Interurban, Seattle Southside’s newest hotel, is right down the street from Westfield Southcenter.
Continue your Seattle Southside adventures at The Museum of Flight, home to the largest private air and space collection in the world! Explore the history of aviation from historic biplanes, to an original Air Force One, to a NASA Space Shuttle Trainer — this expansive museum has something for all ages.
Looking for some great views of Mount Rainier and a place for Lobo to run around? SeaTac Grandview Dog Park is a great place to get some fresh air and have some fun with your pup; plus, the views of Mount Rainier and the valley below are spectacular. Not far from this park, you can grab a charge at Safeway on S. 164th St. and an authentic Italian meal next door at Galliano’s Cucina.
Finally, there’s no better place to catch a sunset in Seattle Southside than Des Moines Beach Park. Walk out on the pier, or trek along the Des Moines Creek Trail and bask in the sights and sounds of the PNW. Become one with nature and end your day on a high note. Not to mention, you’ve got another charging station just down the street at Safeway on Pacific Highway South if you need a charge.
